He has a very thick undercoat, suppose its with living outside, he does get too warm inside...
He really is the most affectionate cat I have ever had, always wanting cuddles...

Life's good, eh Chancer

Must be something to do with having regular access to food. My stray, when he came indoors, turned into a bit of a chubster like that too - but like Chancer he was 'big boned' too!
