Hello

Hey,

I'm new here so I thought I'd introduce myself. I'm Johanna, and I've had 2 rescue bunnies for the last 3 years and just decided to get a kitten to add to my family

We got a little 8 week old tabby and white kitten, now called Gaius, on Saturday. He's been very well behaved so far, but he has so much energy!

I've never had a cat myself before, but I grew up with cats as my mum used to breed Burmese cats. She stopped breeding them when I was born, but still had 13 left, and the oldest one lived until I was 20. But I've never really been around a kitten so hopefully I'll be able to learn a lot on these forums to keep him happy and healthy.

I'll try and get a photo uploaded later

Re: Hello

Hello Joh, welcome to Catsey

Looking forward to seeing Gaius ....... lovely name, have you been watching Merlin on TV? Kittens are very mischievous at that age, I'm sure you will have lots of fun with him.

Re: Hello

Hi and welcome! Unusual name, are you into Roman history? He sounds like a typical kitten: either all wound up or sound asleep! Any change of pics? We do love pics!

Re: Hello

Gaius is from Gaius Baltar - a character in the remake of Battlestar Galactica. It seemed like a good name for a cat.

He hasn't stopped all evening (again). Just managed to get him to go to sleep but I was sat in the hall and he was on my knee!

Anyway - here's a couple of photos:

Attacking the duvet

My mum said to get him used to having his nails trimmed while he is young. He fell asleep while we were doing it!

Then he turned over and he was asleep for about another 2 hours!

Re: Hello

What a little sweetheart he is!

Good idea to start clipping his nails whilst young, it's a shame I didn't start doing it when my cat Cassie was a kitten!

Re: Hello

What a little poppet, he's a sweetie! Your Mum is right, when you start it early they just take claw-clipping as a fact of life. I could always do the ones I started as kittens, the rehomed adults were impossible!!
