Moonlit Monday

Just popped my head out of the window (working nights again) and the moon is shining down along the coast. Clearish skies but doesn't feel that cold to be honest.

Another Monday has come round again. Hasn't January gone quick? Soon be Christmas

Will grab a couple of hours kip after work. We are burying Mil's ashes today. Not a big gathering but just a few of us and the vicar.

Its Chinese new year too today so may grab a takeaway after and then its dog training for me and Bess. Its the first one with dog and handler so I'm looking forward to it. Walking to heel is proving difficult but we will get there I'm sure with my arm socket in one piece.

Looking forward to seeing hubby too as we have been ships that pass for the past 7 days.

Re: Moonlit Monday

Helo Natalie, hi everyone.
It doesn't look too bad here, reasonable temperature and a little blue in the sky.
Yes, February on Sunday - hurrah! Another bl**dy January nearly gone.
The Georgia trip in April is now confirmed, though I like to see the plane tickets in my hand before I believe it totally. It sounds gorgeous - warm and blossom-filled. I shall take myself of to the Gone With The Wind museum and return calling you y'all

Re: Moonlit Monday

Morning! It's a bit grey and yuk here, but warm. Feeling a bit drained and tired as I didn't sleep well.

I got quite stressed last night which is a bit unlike me. We did a lovely homemade shepherd's pie and sweet red cabbage and both boys just went 'don't want that' and pushed it away. I'm afraid at that point I lost my rag (and got quite upset) and both were in bed by 6.30. Thing is, they've both eaten it before and loved it.

So as a result, I fell asleep during Larkrise and then awoke in time to watch the Julie Walters thing about the GP who went to Zurich to terminate her own life. Being a little over-emotional anyway, the bit where she was saying farewell to her cat just had me howling like a baby

Hopefully I'll feel a bit brighter as the day progresses.

Re: Moonlit Monday

Morning all!

Oh Yola, it sounds like last night really was a write-off, so sorry to hear you were feeling stressed. When one thing builds on top of the other it does just get too much, straw that broke the camel's back and all that. I didn't watch that programme but thought it looked excellent, don't think I could have held back if she was saying goodbye to her puss either

I had a pretty similar stressful day yesterday. Full of the cold, had done nothing all weekend due to being ill so thoroughly bored and fed up. Was hoovering which my two don't like and usually hide somewhere. Once I'd finished I went to go and find them and noticed the wardrobe door was open when I'd shut it (purposely to keep them out) open it up and Darcy is on the top shelf. First of all I chuckle a bit when I realise he'd opened the wardrobe door himself (they're built-in with sliding doors) but got upset pretty quickly when I realised that to get up instead of going his usual route of jumping on the set of drawers he'd obviously hurled himself up as quickly as possible and used my leather jacket to heave himself up, leaving 3 cat claw scratches down the arm My gorgeous leather jacket. I know he didn't mean it and it wasn't his fault. I didn't get angry at him but banned them both out of the bedroom for the rest of the day despite their yowls and meows. The leather jacket isn't ruined, the scratches are relatively small but he has torn the leather with puncture marks and then scratched the surface down. It's still wearable but still...

Then after hoovering and doing lots of housework to keep myself busy, but still being full of the cold, I'd been looking forward to a tuna cheese toastie all day. You know what it's like. Promise yourself you can rest in half an hour once you've finished cleaning the bathroom and enjoy that tuna cheese toastie, mmm. So i open the tin, on the kitchen surface, and turn round for literally 10 seconds to look at OH and when I look back find Minsky licking the tuna in the can!! They're not allowed on the surfaces normally so he was doing something bad. Normally it's Darcy who's the mischevious one and Minsky's good, but I just lost it. I threw the tuna in the bin loudly so the lid fell off and startled Minsky so he ran out the kitchen (that's as far as I went with telling him off, just a small scare to make him realise what he did was wrong) then burst into tears calling them 'stupid animals' for 'ruining everything'. I was starving, couldn't breathe through my nose I was so blocked up and all i wanted was a tuna cheese toastie and couldnt have one! (last tin of tuna y'see). Lordy. It sounds a bit silly looking back on it but when it was all built up, I felt awful. And I'm still really annoyed about my leather jacket but crying over spilt milk gets us no where... (or spoiled tuna...)

Calmed down by the evening and was happy again. Can't hold a grudge against my two boys for long anyway. They've never really done anything 'naughty' before (apart from Darcy's sellotape-eating escapades) but I've decided to start being a bit firmer with them as they are spoilt in terms of attention and being 'let away' with things. They meow constantly if they're not getting the attnetion they want so will need to be a bit firmer and not give into every beck and call. Also, they are now forever banned from the wardrobe.

But today is a new day. I'm back in work. Still got a chesty cough and my nose is still a bit blocked, as are my ears. But the aches and pains have gone so I've just been left with the symptoms now the virus seems to have passed.

Struggling with my tax return this week (only found out I had to complete one last week and it's due by Friday ) but this week should be good. Off work tomorrow to get a hair cut and go shopping! (got paid early this month too). Going to St. Andrews for a team-day away with work, staying over in a nice hotel so it'll be s****y dinner, s****y lunch then home again Thurs. evening. Then I'm off up to Aberdeen to visit friends on Friday for the whole weekend So the week should go quickly and is full of nice treats!

Hope everyone has a lovely day. Natalie, my thoughts are with you today for your MIL's ashes-burial. I hope it is a lovely, peaceful day for it. DM, how very very exciting that your trip is confirmed! Start holiday shopping now Janey, I totally agree, the weeks have flown... don't know if this is a good thing or not!

(P.S. Sorry for the big post all, I've been so low this weekend recovering that I've not really done much and now making up for lost time with lots to say!)

HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!

So sorry to hear about your upsets Yola and Meep. As you said meep - it's the straw that breaks the camel's back, especially when you are not feeling very well.

Hope you are both back to "normal" today. xxx

Re: Moonlit Monday

GUNG HAY FAT CHOY, all, Year of the Ox! May it indeed be prosperous and a good year for everyone.

Yucky weather here, snow showers and cold, -5; the real snow is supposed to start tonight with an inch of accumulation, aaargh!!! Joined others in the annual Washington panic to stock up at the market whenever snow is threatened. Going to snow all day tomorrow and maybe turn to ice/rain Wednesday; so will be stuck indoors. Hope the forecast is wrong....

Yola, meep, sorry you both had such trying days; Natalie, thinking of you today.

Stay warm, people!
