Hello Everyone

Hi There!

I've just joined and wanted to introduce myself and tell you all about my lovely kitties! We have 4-year-old Miw-Bast, a tortoiseshell domestic shorthair, and Mouse, a 10-month-old grey tabby domestic shorthair.....both female.

I found this Forum while doing a search.....and thought I'd join! Our littlest cat (Mouse) is very sick, so felt I need to talk to others who love their kitties as much as I love mine.

Re: Hello Everyone

Hi all

Thank you for the warm welcomes!

Mouse is currently lively and feeling reasonably well, we have a nearly confirmed diagnosis of Immune Mediated Erythroid Aplasia, just waiting for the final results of her core bone marrow biopsy. Prognosis isn't great, the condition may respond to steroids (which she has been on for about a week) but response can take up to 3 weeks.....so it's a matter of trying to beat the clock! My hopes are up that she will recover and be well again for some time. As the vet said though, she will never be an old cat (treatment usually works for 2 to 3 years), so we will keep her happy for as long as we are blessed with her.

Miw-Bast's name is unusual, her name comes from the Ancient Egyptian word for cat "Miw" and the Ancient Egyptian Cat Goddess "Bast", so essentially it means "Child of Bast" (she KNOWS she's a goddess!). We call her Miw, rather than the full name, and it is pronounced like the "mew" sound a cat makes.......so she can say her own name very clever cat!

Thanks again for the welcome, I look forward to getting to know you all!
