Well, it's really a present for BOTH of us but my OH was definitely up to SOMETHING as he kept teasing me that a special delivery was being made today...
A little after noon, he popped up out of bed and walked quickly to the door to sign for it...I was on my computer in Kuan Yin's room and thought maybe I wouldn't find out for awhile more...
He comes in the room with something in his arms and says "Wanna meet your new baby?"
I couldn't imagine what he meant. At first I just saw some newspaper shreddings...As I moved my closer I laid my eyes on a beautiful creature....
A BABY GREEN ANACONDA!
She is only about two months old..Now, now...don't worry, she is in the other spare room for now, locked away from our furry critters (I wondered why my OH HAD to clean out that room this weekend!). The pics you will see is of her in her temporary enclosure...Knowing how my OH is (spends all his money on spoiling all the animals)..I am sure she will be spoiled in the ultimate environment very soon!
After my dental appointment tomorrow for the extraction/exam, we are going to stop by the store and pick her up some "food" though she sure seemed happy to be out of that box and has been "stretching" all afternoon and taking nice long dips into the water tub inside the temporary tank.
I held her for awhile and inundated my OH with questions about snakes (he does very well with them and had to give his last one to the zoo because it was thriving so darn well! if there was a green thumb for raising animals, he would have it). As you all may know, I have always loved reptiles but never owned a snake of my own. I've always been intrigued by snakes though. I remember a pet store in Orange County had two anacondas...I came at feeding time once and I saw them feed it a rabbit (dead already as not to upset the customers)...I was amazed..the snake was so quick that rabbit hardly had a chance to get airborne! Needless to say, I am completely keeping my other animals protected from her once she's that old but at this stage she's more likely separated for her own protection as she is quite young. She is quite rare and I already love her already...she's still a baby so it is not intimidating to hold her and she has no impressions about humans yet so I'm going to spend some time holding her everyday so she becomes very tame.
As time goes on she will get HUGE and we will have to build something very elaborate..but we have a few years to think about that. *thinks about OH has been talking about buying a few acres of land*
Meet Penelope, my new baby girl (she just looks like a Penelope to me).
Oh, and there's some pics at the end of Kuan Yin looking at her when she first arrived (before we locked her up in another room...don't worry, i still love and am very protective of my kitty and would never bring her to harm)
Enjoy!
*If you don't like snakes, this is your last chance to leave the thread..LOL*
uh.....mom???
MOM!!!
can we talk about this???
