Just what I said I'd do in Kazz' thread. My mortgage is paid off, no credit card debt and don't have the expense of running a car, hate travelling. So, would make larger contributions to charity, and to more of them. None of my friends need financial help; would if they did. |

Okay, thought about it and here it is. Pay off mortgage and sisters mortgage. Would buy a holiday cottage/bungalow in Carbis Bay Cornwall...a beach to die for, so beach side or right on the beach of possible. Buy a VW retro camper van......... and travel. Maybe buy a new house, but not sure I like where I live, and like my neighbours plus I would be travelling in the camper... so that will be my main occupation plus holiday cottage to visit. May consider a holiday cottage in Scotland so I can move up down the Country. |

I think a million is too daunting to consider, was much happier to think about how to spend Kazz's 100,000 - I'm not sure that I wouldn't be like Viv Nicholson "Spend Spend Spend" and they definitely wouldn't make a musical about me!!!! |

buy the house across the road. but only if the council listen to us and not build on the lovely bit of land behind it. (trying to get it registered as a village green) also buy a garage near by. and buy a nice classic norton for OH to tinker with. and just live comfortably for the rest of our lives. would be nice not have to worry about bills any more. oh but have a 3 month trip around new zealand. |

Ooo now there's a thought. This is just off the top of my head so not thought through but... I'd invest some, as I am quite young, and a million wouldn't last me my life time! But would invest enough that could potentially live off some of the interest as I get older? And then I'd not work for four years and go back to University to do a phD and could eventually become a lecturer. I've always wanted to do that but the cost of going to Uni, as well as only being able to do a part-time job on the side due to workload, means I financially can't. Having a million to me is freedom, and it would give me the freedom to do what I want, not what I have to do. I would probably also buy a flat in Glasgow's west end. An old Victorian tenament flat Nothing extravagent, but comfortable and homely. Ooo I'm going dreamy-eyed at the thought of it all... |
