Re: Upton House

I love visiting stately homes and this looks really nice. I'm always drawn to the kitchens, they look so basic for the tasks they had to perform. It's probably because that's where I would have worked in another life, I wouldn't have been 'upstairs' that's for sure

Oh yes, I could see myself living in a home like that - pure heaven. What a beautiful home. It almost looks like Downton Abbey. We have nothing like that here in NZ.

Re: Upton House

Thanks for sharing these lovely photos Shelley. It looks such an interesting place to visit. Are those two big trees cedar? I love the photo of the imaginary doorway between them ...... reminds me of a photo I posted a long while ago, but your trees are certainly more majestic!

And WAS that chair a commode, looks like there was a sort of flush?

Re: Upton House

glad you enjoyed the pictures, Ladies.
Angie, the gateway of trees reminded me of the one you posted, i think they are ceders.
The whicker chair thingy is i think a flushing toilet, the upper part of the house was art deco including the bathroom which for some reason fascinated me.
We had great fun in a dressing room where you could try various hats etc on.

Re: Upton House

Looks lovely

Dinky, if you ever visit the UK, there are plenty of places like that to visit, I think we are very lucky in that respect.
