Tango sick again - another test

Tango finished his 4th or 5th lot of antibiotics on Wednesday night, after having 2 weeks of no sickness at all. Then violently vomited again 10 minutes after having his last pill!

Went back to the vets again yesturday, he had a high temperature and was in some pain, slightly thickened guts again. So another blood test, this time testing his Pancreas, he also had some pain killers and more antibiotics injected and yet another different kind of antibiotic pill to take for 2 weeks.
The test results won't be back for about 10 days, I am kind of hoping this is the one where we find out what the problem is, although there is no cure for the Pancreas problem it can be managed a bit better if we know what it is.

I asked about what the Pancreas actually does, since I had no clue, and found out it produces insulin and digestive enzimes, sometimes it over works and produces more enzimes than needed and also leaks enzimes where it shouldn't causing quite a bit of pain. This seems to fit into Tangos symptoms quite well, since when he is sick it contains a lot of fluid/bile and he walks around like hes feeling very sore.

Was expecting the usual £50- £80 bill for tests and all but it came in at £168! My vets don't do any kind of credit and weren't too pleased when I said I only had £80 with me after spending about £1000 in the last 6 months you'd think that would show I'm not going to run off half way through a treatment because of £86, anyway had to sign an agreement that I'd bring the rest of the money today otherwise they would stop treating my cats

Re: Tango sick again - another test

I hope that Tango get better soon I know what you are going through as Tilly is in the vets at the moment with vomiting. I have to say that the vets sound a bit mean by saying that you have to bring the money in today or they stop treating your cats. When it is obvious that you are going to pay. They should have mentioned something sooner if it was going to be expensive.

My thoughts are with you and I hope they sort if out soon.

(((HUGS))

((hugs)) for you and Tango!

Vets are becoming increasingly materialistic and less about caring for the animals I think. If I were you I'd look into finding another vets.

Sorry to hear this - both the unwell cat and the attitude of the vets.
Hope you can now get to the bottom of Tango's problems. You can't go on like this.

Re: Tango sick again - another test

I had thought about changing vets, mainly because there is another one in my town that has a cat expert there and everyone seems to love him.
But won't be changing as the vet who sees Tango knows his history, and he is very good, I like the way he explains things clearly, above all I trust him 100%, also the vet who is seeing Bones for his cateracts is in training to specialise in eyes, so I know he will be very good checking the progress of the cateracts.

The vet who sees Tango was the one who cleared it yesturday to let me have any credit at all, they have a notice in reception saying no credit due to having there trust broken before, on one had I can see there point but on the other hand I've been in there a lot recently and spent a lot too, it should count for something.

I surely hope Tango's going to improve. You're in sort of a bind vet-wise, aren't you...you trust the one that's taking care of him and don't want to change, but their attitude to a regular client is deplorable about money. .....
