Oh yes and drangonflies too forgot those and in the evening I am overrun with moths I mean hundreds of them - and the other night I had a bat - think he was lost though he flew past me clutching his A-Z Wonder if they are searching for moisture in the plants? I have water out for the birds in a dish but may put a few little pots out for the insects. I have some old eggcups. |

We too have loads of extra butterflies (flutterflies as Dominik calls them), bees (especially on my lavender . . . 100s of them) and also dragonflies. Again - no water anywhere near really so I'm very surprised to see them!! However over the last few days a less-welcome winged visitor has been present; flying ants. I hate them they just seem to come of every surface; floors, walls, soil!!!! |

I haven't seen many butterflies around this area except for the cabbage whites.... There was an article in the press last week to say our butterfly population is declining.....only 50 odd varieties left..... My OH and I were talking about it last week and came to the conclusion it must have something to do with the insecticides which are now being used... We have quite a big lavender shrub in the garden but never see any butterflies on it unfortunately |
