Hello

I'm new today, and my heart is broken. My darling Nimue crossed the Rainbow Bridge at 4:30 this afternoon. I had the pleasure of being her human for 14 years. She picked me at the rescue center, she was 3 at the time, the way she started at me eye to eye I knew she was my familiar.
I came to your site to find a poem, "When I'm Old I Shall Wear Diamond Collar", it truly suits my Nimue.
Thank you for allowing me to join and speak to like minded people.

Re: Hello

Hello Crazy Cat Lady, welcome although so sorry to hear the circumstances. We can all sympathise with your loss, many of us having had similar sadnesses with our lovely cats in the past. When my dear old Merlin passed, the folk on this forum were very supportive, numbers have dwindled now but I'm sure those of us that are left would love to hear more about Nimue when you are ready.

Re: Hello

Hello Crazy Cat Lady and welcome to our gang. Sorry you found us under these sad circumstances though. Nimue and you had a deep connect which never leaves us. My first cat Posh found me too and although she passed over the Bridge nearly a year ago, she opened my heart to the wonderful world of cats. I have three now, 2 rescues, Pearla and Pandora, and a recent addition a little lost lady, Phoebe.

Please share with us the life you had with Nimue and we will gladly enjoy hearing about her. I haven't heard of the poem you wanted to find, hope you success in your search .

Nette x

Re: Hello

I think this may be what you were looking for:

When I Am An Old Cat

When I Am An Old Cat I shall wear
a diamond collar and leave my footprints
on white couches; I shall drink my cream with
a touch of brandy and spit out my vitamins;
I shall sit on the laps of dog people
just to irritate them; I shall nap on top of the
neighbor's petunias and perch on top of
birdbaths and grow charmingly chubby.
But for now I must tolerate the dog
and use my litter box and not sharpen
my claws on the sofa, so no one can doubt
the truth that cats are superior to dogs.
But every once in a while I wonder
if I should be naughty now and then
and nip a few toes, so my humans
won't be too shocked when suddenly
I become an old cat and
start to wear a diamond collar.

Re: Hello

Sorry to hear of your loss. The poem really suits my cat Chubbiz, he did all that before he became old. He has been gone well over 3 years and we've had 4 new cats since but I still miss him. I know what you mean about meeting eye to eye, Chubbiz chose me and I was honoured to have him for 14 years.
