Thanks . He really is a gorgeous boy. Mind you at the moment Roxie doesn't think so as he keeps trying to practice his mating techniques on her and she isn't even calling . At least he doesn't appear to take after his Grandad Cory

What a little star! I think his colouring is so distinctive; what's it called Kay? It must be some kind of tabby markings judging by the stripes.

Joshua is in fact a Red Self and not a Tabby despite his stunning 'tabby' markings.

There is a big issue with the red/cream series cats in that what appears to be a Red/Cream Tabby, as in Joshua's case, are actually not a true genetic Agouti Tabby. On the other hand what appears to be a Red/Cream Self with no tabby markings at all is a true genetic Agouti Tabby .

Re: Joshua especially for Shelley

Kay, that bit about agouti thoroughly confused me! I thought agouti was when the hairs were banded in 3 colors like Abys and Singapuras: gave the Messy Beast genetics page a look and am now completely lost! It is indeed complicated .... but he is a stunner whatever he is!

Yes the Agouti causes the banding on the hair shaft due to a protein prohibiting the natural colour showing through completely. The pattern in which the banding appears depends on which pattern Tabby gene the cat possesses. Abys and Singapuras are Agouti breeds but they have a ticked tabby pattern rather than Mackerel, Classic or Spotted
