A bad week :(

Bear with me as the first part of the week started with a Emaciated Boxer puppy being found by member of public who took him in & called the dog warden, dog warden took immediately to vet, sadly poor pet was too ill and died later that day in the vets.

Mid week wasn't too bad, got two little female cats lifted from owner who no longer wanted, both entire. Foster got them spayed and already has a home lined up for the older one when her stitches are out & she is over her spay.

We were contacted about wee cat that needed homed due to a pups arrival, wee cat had been put outside Wee cat was at the other end of the country to where the Foster was, however we got a relay of transporters to bring her to Belfast to a temporary Foster and the lady thats fostering her travelled to Belfast to collect her.

The last few days have been - b a d

Firstly we heard of a wee skinny sick cat straying around a hotel - beautiful wee grey/blue boy. Arranged transporters and a Foster however meantime one of the hotel staff took the cat to a vet in the area. Our Foster phoned the vets and said she would Foster when cat was well enough. He was on a drip as very dehydrated.

Secondly - Didnt hear about this one until afterwards, One of our volunteers dropped what she was doing and travelled out to rescue/transport a wee cat that was very ill in someone's garden, apparently it had been straying in the area - it was a good hours drive away from where she lives. Sadly this wee one was too ill and the vet PTS

Then we heard today the wee grey/blue cat had died in the vets

Thirdly the wee cat that came from so far away isn't eating much and coughing so the Foster is taking her to the vets first thing tomorrow morning.

Got another call tonight about a sick cat. Have a trapper going out to try and get it tomorrow as apparently its friendly enough but very timid. We have a Foster on standby once it's been to the Vets. Just hope this wee one makes it.

Bless all of you who put yourselves out to such lengths to help poorly cats, Velvet. A very sad week for you and all the helpers. Do hope things pick up and those who have offered foster homes do get to foster a needy cat.

Good Lord what a sad week. Yet all of those that passed on died aware someone cared about them. A ending that has a glimmer of sliver lining.

Re: A bad week :(

Wee update - the wee tabby cat that travelled halfway across the country to her foster has cat flu so has had to be separated from the other rescues - all she wants to do us sit and cuddle on someones knee. Vet said she is between 4/6. Hopefully get her over this and into a nice loving home.

The wee cat I was told about last night is avoiding the trapper and her cat trap, clever boy. The girl that has been feeding him now admits he can be quite hissy at times so we suspect he may be a feral.

Just heard today that both the wee female cats that we lifted last week that needed spayed are both going to be homed together - that made me smile - nice to get good news for a change

Helen you have been on the ropes this week but the wee things you couldn't save had care at the last, and great news about the girls staying together in their forever home

Thank you for being there, and all your helpers too, you do great work. Keep strong, focus on the positives, you are doing great work !
