Castration charges.

How much are you folks paying for this? Its £37.94 at our vets (I think thats what they said) and with Moose being 6mths tomorrow, his time approaches, perhaps in the new yr. Just wondering what others are charging nowadays. Wiggy was the same price, but it was under a year ago so I expect it would be.

I think it it is a little less than that at our vets Dawn...does that price include the newer, safer anaestheitic (can't remember the name of it)? If it does then I think that it is reasonably good value

I paid £86 to get Felix done a few weeks ago - that was him getting neutered and getting his blood tested to make sure he was alright to go under the anaesthetic

I dont know Fran, I never thought to ask, I will do though. We have these "CAVAN" vets around now "companion animal vaccination and neutering" its all they do, hence the prices. I am tempted to go there, but dont want to feel guilty. Here are their prices.

Dawn, why would you feel guilty going to a pet vacc clinic? I've never had a male cat of my own, so not had to pay for a castration.

Felix is only about 3 years old. I totally think its a money grabbing tactic - it was Gordon that took him in and he said he felt pressured to take the extra tests - almost as if "if you really love your cat you would"

Those are good prices Dawn, I am getting the girls spayed shortly but would worry like crazy going to a "new" practice even if that was all they did - does that make sense? although similar to you going the Doctors then to see a suregon who specalizes for your Op.

Emm thats expensive isn't it? why did he need the blood tests? although they tested Cleo before her Op start of this year but that was because she was poorly 23 years previously when she was spayed but anthestic has improved leaps and bounds since then plus her kidney's and age etc was the other reason.

And in answer to your orginal question Dawn can't recall how much I paid for Oz to be done all those years ago.
