what are your phobias?

what are your phobia's? think we may dig up some strange ones here!!

ok, mine are- being sick. i hate, hate, HATE being sick, i will go out of my way to avoid this, and have never been properly drunk as im scared of being sick!!

-the licking of wooden lolli pop sticks!!

i shudder at the thought of having to lick ice cream off a wooden stick, and i cant hold them, i need to wrap some of the wrapper round it!

and i dont know if i would put it as far as a phobia, but i cant stand wasps or the giant spiders that run realllllly fast across your living room floor!!

Good thread! Spiders for me, even the little bitty bitty ones; but especially the huge garden ones, orb weavers, they;re horrid! And flying; never have and never will ... the mere idea of being up above the Earth gives me the shivers.....

I loathe heights, fine in a plane, but I don't enjoy being at the top of a tall building and for me my worst nightmare would be to skydive! Not sure it is a phobia as such, just really don't like it. Good thread btw

Spiders! I don't mind many other things, I don't like flying but I'll do it (though I really couldn't manage a long-haul flight) I dislike beetley creepy crawlies but I'm fine with snakes providing they're not poisonous!

My son can't stand moths, they really freak him out, he won't put a bedroom light on if the window's open in case they're attracted by the light and fly in.

I know a woman frightened of trees. There is actually a name for that - dendrophobia!

Dogs! Barking dogs will have me walking miles out of my way to avoid them. I really annoyed a friend once as we had to detour quite a way on a walk, I simply could NOT walk past the dog barking and snarling at us near a farm gate. I have got better and can now make friends with individual dogs but strange dogs, nooooooooo. I'd love to cure it as I can get really tense even walking near to farms just in case a dog is going to be there and footpaths going through farmyards are horrible because there might be a dog there.

I think that many so-called phobias are actually a protective fear-based instinct that help us to survive! It's when it gets out of control and gives a person an attack of the screaming abdabs that is becomes a phobia! So, going by my yardstick there, I don't like spiders and the thing that makes me feel really sick and jelly like is the thought of falling, a bungee jump would be impossible.

I pity the woman who is dendrophobic because I am a tree-hugger!

Wasps. Been chased round the garden by one before. Snakes as well, hate them.

SNAKES!!!!! There is a reason they were cast out of the garden of eden you know

Had a horrible experience in Canada with a water snake as a child and the revulsion of that has never left me!
