Gardening - Love it NOW, but as a child/teenager/young adult I would often say to my Mom (gardening addict as well) why not slab it all.....Aghhhh sacrilege now. Classical music - I am quite a fan now and listen often in the car mostly. Whereas before I would have PooPooed the whole concept and not listened. |

Mushrooms! Hated them as a child and refused to eat them, picking them out of any dishes that contained them. Then, when I was about 18, I was invited to my boyfriend's (now my hubby) parents' home for a meal. She'd pulled out all the stops (to intimidate me?, I was sooooo scared of that woman!) first course was mushroom soup!!!!! I didn't dare say anything just took a deep breath and got on with it, so surprised to find that I quite liked it and have loved mushrooms ever since |

Stilton cheese. I used to heave when I smelt it as a child, now I love it Golf. Never entered my head that I'd enjoy a game of golf, but followed the last day of the Ryder Cup and was excited and enjoyed it immensely. |

What a great thread Kazz! Classical music - certainly - used to think that was for fuddy-duddies! Beetroot - as a child I was only given the awful stuff in vinegar, but fresh beetroot either raw grated or cooked is beautiful, especially if it's home grown. I'll have to put my thinking cap on to see if I can remember any more. |

Cauliflower! Never had it as a child and it's an odd looking vegetable. But read an interesting recipe in the paper, tried it, and now it's a very favorite that I have very often. |

Coffee - hated the smell and taste until I was in my mid twenties. Now love 'real' coffee. Olives - up to about 8 years ago I wouldn't touch them. Got 'caught' by a stall holder at Hickstead and have never looked back. Weeding - as a child I loved the garden and helped my grandfather loads but thought weeding was boring. Now find it quite theraputic and satisfying. That's all I can think of for now. |
