I love Dawlish. Have you ever done the trip on the train between Torquay and Exmouth etc? Beautiful - water and red earth/sand.

We have holidayed at Dawlish Warren regularly for many years DM, we love it there. Also as it is not too far away, we can have day trips there too. We often walk along the coastal path into Dawlish, alongside the railway track and the red cliffs, which are abundant with rabbits! The train trip right along the coast to Paignton is very scenic too..
