It sounds like it might be gingivitis (sp). My advice is to get him to a vet. Edit: is this what you are trying to describe? http://www.crvetcenter.com/gingivitis.htm |

It really does sound as though he needs a dental check, the vet will probably suggest a de-scaling and polish. It certainly seems as though his gums are inflamed. Is his breath good? Once he's been sorted out I think it would be a good idea to have some sort of dental regime, either the Logic that you used before or Plaque-off which we've used for some time and our 5 year old cats have really good teeth. |

yeah take him to the vets. Chloe has bad teeth, not many left now, we have been feeding her hill perscription TD, but she's past help now, so we'll be switching to Hills old person's cat food once shes finished eating the TD. She does LOVE Whiskas detnabits so we'll keep feeding her them! |

Definitely sounds like gingivitis to me, the gums around the yellow teeth sound as if they are inflamed. I would take him to the vet, probably needs a dental. |

agree with above, probably needs a dental and then you can pick some options for maintenance. my vet has given me an additive for their water that helps keep the plaque down, i like it because i don't have to actually brush their teeth and so far it seems to do the trick on it's own though later i may have to add brushing too. |

Thank you for the replies. I finally took Oli to the vets this morning. I took so long to make an appointment because I have been searching for a new vet. The last time Oli had anesthetic he was in an awful state. He was cold, shaking and couldnt stand up properly - he only had bloods done. I didn't want my poor boy going through that again so I did some research and looked for the best vet around. Seems to be quite expensive, but worth it! He is booked in for a dental one week today. He will have one tooth extract because he has a hole in it and his other teeth with be cleaned up. |
