Tom update

Tom has been for his T4 bloodtest today and i also asked for a full bloodwork test done as he has been drinking more recently.
The results were not what we wanted but they could have been worse.
His thyroid has become overactive again and he is producing too much urea which means he has a kidney problem, it is apparently a moderate problem at the moment.
We are increasing the strength of the thyroid tablets and he will be on one tablet a day for his kidney function.
He seems fine in himself so hopefuly we have caught it in time.

Re: Tom update

I do hope you've caught it in time. Perhaps the meds change will help.

Re: Tom update

not sure Lynz, we pick the tablets up tomorrow so may be told then. He does have regular bloodtests but had been stable for a while so they had left him 6 months.

Re: Tom update

I am going to look up kidney problems but wondered if anyone with experience of this could offer any tips, re diet etc.
Tom generaly has a good quality dry food for breakfast and a felix pouch for tea. He also enjoys the occasional bowl of raw mince, usualy chicken which has been frozen first.
He has Cat milk a few times a week.
I have to say he has been refusing the dry food at breakfst for a few weeks and so has wet. Maybe his body was telling him something.
