Hi I've literally only just found out about this forum after my vet told me about you after I found an abandoned kitten in a plastic bag....here's the story.
About 18:30 on Monday evening I was walking along the river coming back from my friends house. I was very close to a ditch which, being flood season, was filled with water as well. I had just gone past a black plastic bag when all of a sudden I heard a faint mewing sound.
I shone my torch all around the area to try and see where the noise was coming from and found the bag. Upon opening it I recoiled from a really foul decaying smell, but then a very tiny black kitten popped it's head out and peered at me, mewing piteously! With a gasp of shock, I looked in the bag and found 4 other kittens which were unfortunately dead. Because it was quite cold I had my fluffy warm scarf around my neck. I took it off and wrapped it around the kitten so it could be kept warm and then I dashed back to my home to tell Mum and Dad.
After Mum and Dad had recovered from the shock of the story, Mum called up the emergency vet who told her and me to bring the kitten in, so we did. When we got there we found out the kitten was actually a very healthy little girl. All she had was quite a few fleas on her, but the vet felt she could stay with us (we had become very attached to her by then). The vet gave us a huge tin of kitten formula and showed me how to feed the kitten and told me and Mum to feed her every 3 hours.
So now the little kitten has a very nice new home, away from the danger that she would have been in if I hadn't of been around at the time. Lucie (my other much older cat) has taken too her very well and has actually begun to let the kitten snuggle into her warm fur, so we know she'll be fine with the new addition. Mum's been given special permission to feed the kitten at work, because I go to college, but I feed her all the rest of the time.
I'm sorry to introduce myself with such a tragic/happy story and I also hope to post with more happier things lol. I also have another cat as well who gets on very well with the new little addition.
Take care
