When to stop??

We are 24 years down the line having cats, all have a place in my heart, every loss hurt me so much.

When Cleo goes do I want any more ? Not that she has any intentention of going yet but she ain`t a kitten.

Tomorrow-is another day-the pain never goes but the heart has room for a rescue??

Re: When to stop??

I think once you have loved a cat and recieved a cats love in return you could never have a life without one, even though with each sad loss it breaks your heart.
Without a cat in my life my heart would feel so empty so I will always have one .

Re: When to stop??

I agree Leesy. I loved my old Merlin and was devastated when he went, but those three weeks without a cat in the house were uncomfortable, not just for me, but OH and MIL found it so too. We are so very very lucky to have a lovely cat like Kizzy as our feline company.

If you are a cat person, as you are Steph, I think a home would not be a home without one. I wish you and Cleo many more happy years together however.

Personally, I feel that the years of love, fun and cuddles far outweigh the heartache. It's always very painful to lose an animal but I could never imagine life with out animals in it.

I agree, my only concern is when I reach an age when I can't look after them, what do I do with the last ones in my care- still working on a solution for that one.

I agree - if you are an animal lover then the heartache comes as part of the package.

I don't think I could be without a cat, to me they are an essential part of a home.

Re: When to stop??

Everyone has already said it, Steph. A catless home isn't a home to me; the heartache of loss will always be there, but there is enough love to give to another one who needs you and will fill that cat sized hole in the heart.

Re: When to stop??

Um I don't quite know how to say this but you can take an insurance policy out to cover your cats (dogs etc) rehoming should you pop your cork before they do. I know the RSPCA do one......... no affiliation but may settle your mind.
