Yes, sad news. He was an inspirational man to many - and always answered letters sent to him. I watched his last Sky at Night broadcast last week, never guessing of course that it would be his last. A real proper English eccentric and will be missed. RIP Patrick - go fly among the stars. |

I'd echo what you both said - a lovely, gentle man whose knowledge was phenomenal. And a cat lover too . . . I was very sad to read the news of his passing yesterday. |
