Laptop Repairs

Does anyone on here know anything about laptop repairs?

My laptop screen backlight has gone and I dont know if this is repairable or not. Just tested laptop on another desktop monitor and it works perfectly fine on there.

The screen is just very very dark on the laptop so cant use it

Re: Laptop Repairs

If it is gonna cost that much to repair then I will just throw it away. Cant afford to pay that for a repair!!!

If its just a bulb then surely it cant be that much?????

Donna I'm no expert but I dont think they have bulbs as such. May be wrong though. Good luck anyway. Get an estimate before you get it done as they may tell you that you need "other work done as well" Dont go to Currys. There nothing but trouble if my experiance is anything to go by.

Re: Laptop Repairs

Well have emailed a few local repair companies. Hopefully they may get back to me tomorrow at least with a reply of "bring it in".

Re: Laptop Repairs

Go for small shops. They depend on reputation and word of mouth. Good luck

Re: Laptop Repairs

A bit more information from my son, you can get the backlighting panels off E-bay (but you'd have to know what you want and have someone to fit it for you,He also says that if you want to get rid of the laptop you could advertise it on E-bay for spares but if you have anything "sensitive" on the hard drive make sure it is removed before getting rid of the laptop.
