Having Cats Outdoors in Enclosures

The weather is finally starting to feel like spring. The sun has been shining and I can be outside in a tank top or long sleeved shirt with no coat. I love hanging out outside with my dogs in the Spring as much as possible before the humidity of Summer starts.

I leave the back door open with the screen door closed, and Cheddar and Devon love to sun bath in the sunlight.

I was thinking of bringing their big enclosure outside so they too can hang out in the sun but worry that they might like being outside so much that they will start to dart out the door. They don't dart at all now, but worried they may start.

Am I over worrying or overthinking things?

If you do make sure its shaded by putting under shade or putting something over the top of it. This will protect from harmful sun rays. Ours have a cat run attached to the kitchen & come & go as they please during the day

Timber, my cats have a huge outdoor enclosure that runs the full length of the back yard. They access it through a window in the back conservatory. It has climbing ledges and cat hammocks in it and gives them access to the great outdoors.I find it is sufficient for the kittens and Snodgrass but my wee blind Miracle always wants to escape. She adores the outside and it is terrible watching her trying to get outside. Perhaps it is because she has feral blood in her - I don't know.I bought her a soft fabric harness and lead and I take her out on the footpath when it gets dark. This seems to settle her. Your lovely boys would no doubt love to go outside in their enclosure if it was a reasonable size. As Velvet says, make sure they have a shaded area they can retreat to. Good luck.
