Frankie has pnuemonia and below normal temp
We came home from work today and one of our babies, Frankie, wasn't acting right. We rushed him to the vet and they took x rays and diagnosed pnuemonia. One of the scariest parts is that his body temp is well below normal. His temp was only 95.9. They gave him a shot of cortisone to help with inflammation and a shot of baytril. They sent baytril tablets home with him. We are keeping him in the bathroom (warmest room in the house). We have him crated and bottles filled with hot water in the crate to try to keep him warm. We took his temp a little while ago and it is up to 97.4.
We are trying to keep him warm, without too warm, as he is having trouble breathing. The vet cannot guarantee he will make it as he said it is more serious that his temp is below normal. Frankie is one of our "special" kitties. He is a long haired solid white cat with baby blue eyes and yes, he is completely deaf. The vet said he will always have immune problems with that combination.
Please send Frankie hugs and prayers!
