Cat scratching furnitureHi, all, Any tips for dealing with my new rescue Birman (about four weeks). She is settling down fine, but is scratching the backs of the chairsw. We have a scratching post, but she doesn't use it. Also, we have a mat for scratching on, but no luck. The previous owner said she is used to a scratching post. Any tips??

Not sure if they're covered in the links but the 2 I've used that seemed to have worked are (a) put scratching post/s against area of furniture that is being scratched and/or (b) put double-sided tape on top of the fabric that's being scratched. My one cat that did it hated having sticky on his paws and stopped pronto. Good luck. |
