Settling a cat in a one bedroom house.So we are getting a rescue cat tomorrow  Just one question. Ive been reading tips on settling our new arrival in but we only have 1 bedroom, living room, kitchen and bathroom, theres no place where we can give him the room to himself. Anybody got any tips? Many thanks!

Hmmmm... My little one wasn't rescue in quite that sense, but that's the same set up as my flat. Only one of me, which may well have helped on that score. My lounge is quite large, and I basically kept her in there for the first few weeks. I was in it with her quite a bit, but... She did do alright. Tell us about your cat? |

He is a ten year old black cat called Tom. Hes lived rough and was only put up for adoption because he wouldnt let the womans other cats back in the house after he moved in! I suppose leaving the doors open mean if we come into the room then he can leave if he feels panicked. Guess I'm just nervous! |

You'll be fine. And yes, I'd imagine it very different when you've got that kind of history. I think that leaving the doors open is a very good idea. Are you opposed to him being in the bedroom? Cause if not, why not set him up in there for the first day or so, and try to limit yourself going in there for certain amounts of time? |

Good luck with Tom. I had just the experience of the person who has had to pass Tom on - I took in a stray boy and he wanted to be an only cat. When I bought Kizzy home (rescue), I put her in our utility room in case she didn't want to explore her new home immediately, but she soon started wandering around, but at any strange noise or someone at the door, she would hide behind the filing cabinet in the office. She felt safe there but it wasn't long before she stopped doing that. Are you planning to let Tom outside in the future? |

Sorry for none reply work and stuff! Well Tom has arrived. He strolled out of the cat carrier and is checking out the place. He's wailing a little which is a little upsetting but he seems calm enough! |
