Thanks guys Regarding the lettuce, I've been told that it is fine to give as a treat just not regularly..I will go find links in a second..also, in the pics they weren't eating lettuce? There was some lettuce in them but they weren't eating it because they're picky little things :P They only ate dandelions and brocolli in the pics. right, here we are. If you look here, this is a VERY reputable piggy site, there is a nutrition chart which I know maaaaaaaaaany people with guinea pigs rely on heavily.. http://www.guineapigcages.com/forum/...arts-info.html it says that butterhead, romaine, cos, green leaf and red leaf lettuce are all fine almost daily. If you're thinking of iceberg lettuce, that should never be fed because it has little to no nutrition value and it's just basically water..I also believe it's high in nitrites. Lettuce is also low in vitamin C which piggies need through their veg because they can't make their own but it's not dangerous to feed it to them as a treat - infact I know many people on piggy forums who feed it daily with no problems at all. Elaine, I don't agree with many of the things on that website which you linked to.. Can I just ask what you guys have heard about why it is harmful? I'm not saying it definately isn't - but it has been recommended to be many times. |
