Few pics from France

We didn't actually take a lot of pics but we did have a very good time.
Loved the long ferry/short cruise to N Spain, thought the scenery between Santander and the French border was lovely. The Pyrennes were stunning - sadly misty on our main sightseeing day there. The gite was exquisite (and quirky, of course) and Canet-Plage, 10 minutes drive away, was a great, very French, resort. Then a 3 day trip back, with stops in very different parts of France.
Noticed autumn becoming more and more evident as we drove north, and are sure it is autumn now! Our first words to each other on waking yesterday, after arriving home about 11.30pm on Tuesday, were - "must put the winter duvet on the bed!"

Our home, for a week. We were in the convered, completed bit at the top!

It's an old grape press, so has this fresco (is that right?) on the external wall

The boudouir!

Village church (7pm, exactly)

Mairie

The bar is behind the trees! I think that's my OH perusing the bill of fare!

The Pyrennes (kudos to the cyclists who conquer these slopes, steroids or not!)

A town we had lunch in in the Pyrennes... Argeles, I believe

and a stunning bit of scenery in Languedoc Rousillion, passing along the edge of the Pyrennes and amongst the Fenoullades. We were driving through rocks, under overhangs etc etc . The pic doesn't do it justice. Can you see me in the car?

So, that's it in terms of pictures. Many good memories and 4 dozen bottles of wine stashed away .... lot to be said for 2 people in a Mondeo estate!

Wonderful photos DM, it looks so peaceful there. You didn't fancy the air -conditioned apartment next door then?

I love that pic of the Pyrennes with the two cycles ........ there's something very mystical about it..

Glad you had a good time ......and didn't go thirsty!

- Eeek - didn't explain myself very well. The 4 dozen bottles are from the Hypermarche in Cherbourg and are stashed in the spare room, as opposed to us having stashed them away inside us

Think the apartment next door may be a 'work in progress' but it will take a bit of doing.

The Pyrennes were great - saw wild horses, mountain sheep, a pig (!), donkeys, buzzards and dogs and cats all at the top of the peaks!
.... and I forgot to tell you about the evening we had a bat come to visit in the gite - took him ages to find his way out

Lovely pictures

I was well impressed when I saw the picture of the bikes thought you and your OH had cycled up there and jumped off your bikes to take that picture

There were an amazing number of cyclists going right up to the tops - absolutely lung-bustingly, leg-achingly, amazing. Nice glide down though .........
