Layers of the onion - afterlife

Following on from Shelley's interesting thread about the medium she saw .......

My two very similar experiences are to do with scattering of ashes (my dad's) and a burial of a much liked and respected work colleague.

In my dad's case, he had previously scattered my mum's ashes and wanted his own scattered in the same place, which I did. The day was warm and still - you don't want to be scattering ashes on a windy day. The atmosphere changed and a wind got up. It was warm and very energetic, swirling around me and OH who was also there. We were buffeted about in a most playful way and I felt sad at being so heavy and earth-bound. I was upset but on reflection found the whole experience to be hopeful and uplifting. My interpretation was that there was an energy release as my parents' spirits joined and swirled about, joyful, playful, free. They truly passed on and I have never once had any further worry about them, nor have I been "visited" by their spirits, although of course they stay with me in my memory.

A very similar thing happened at the burial of my colleague. He was buried with his beloved wife in a tiny little graveyard. His funeral was attended by many friends and work colleagues as he was well liked and respected by many. Exactly the same thing happened with the warm buffeting wind, which again felt joyful and playful. One of the people there said at the time that it was not the first time she had experienced this happening.

Since then, I have tried searching the web for other people's experiences of this but am obviously not using the right words! I did try entering my experiences on a blog and got one reply from a lady who had had similar experiences.

I am sure that those experiences, together with the facts that the medium gave to Shelley prove that there is more than one state of existence in the afterlife. I find that hugely exciting and promising. I hope you do too!

I get scared really easily.
Ages ago when I was younger my friend said to me if you see the lights flashing don't worry it's just my great nan because my nan told her mum to flick the lights on and off so she no that she is there.

That was really interesting, Angie, and I can see how it would make you feel comforted. Odd that no one else seems to have reported similar experiences, as you say maybe the wrong search terms?

I've never experienced any paranormal experiences. I once took a test to see if I had any psychic traits, and came up with none ....too Earthbound, perhaps, both zodiac signs (Taurus, Horse) are Earth signs ...... ???

Angie - I felt something v similar at my grandfathers funeral.

I was extremely close to him and after the service I was standing outside on my own. It was February and pretty cold. I was thinking about him and sort of saying a private farewell. I suddenly felt a warm breeze but it wasn't windy - if that makes sense.

When I told my mother that he had said goodbye to me with a 'breezy cuddle' I was told not to be daft - there was no way I would have felt a warm wind in February. I had kind of dismissed it but your post has brought back that memory - maybe he did say goodbye after all.

I'm sure he did CM. I don't think that my experiences are due to any psychic ability on my part - my OH felt the same and so did all the people at my colleague's funeral. What happened was on a physical level that everyone could feel. Shame there was no one with you to feel the warm farewell cuddle from your grandfather.

Very interesting angie, i've never heard of anything like that.
I am very interested in Phychic matters but am also a bit sceptical. I have never seen anything etc apart from once when i was living with just my sons. I had a big upset in my life and was struggling a bit. I was busy round the house doing and ran upstairs to get something, there was a stair light on but the hall at the bottom of the stairs was in darkness. As i came down again i noticed a thin shaft of light coming from nowhere and finishing at my chest (bit like a light sabre ) i turned from side to side and the light shaft moved also before fading.
