Steve McCurry - RetrospectiveI really admire this American photographers work. I have a book of his portraits that I never tire lokking at. Friend told me he's exibiting in Birmingham from June to October. Surely I can find a couple of days in that 4 month space to visit and see. http://www.bmag.org.uk/events?id=605&start=6

Mainly portrait - but very rarely posed. He is a photo journalist so a lot of his work is in areas of conflict etc. He has done a few landscapes etc but even these tend to have people as a focus. I think it is just his ability to catch the human spirit - good and bad that I admire. This is his website. It is quite slow - be patient, it's worth it (IMO) http://www.stevemccurry.com/main.php |
