Kittens' eyes...I'm just on briefly to ask a question and post some pictures when I'm done. I'd researched, and read that kittens generally open their eyes in the second week after birth - but I didn't realise how soon into the second week! They're a week and 3 days old today, and yesterday morning when we came downstairs they all had their eyes open (although one is a little squintier than the other 3). My question is, how long do I need to shield them from bright lights for? They're in a cupboard under the stairs, so as far as darkness goes they're well set, but I'm worried that if something goes wrong with one of them I won't be able to tell. Thanks a lot!

Hi Snoof - glad all is going well. Sounds fine. I don't know the answer to your question but someone with experience will be around soon I'm sure. Smudgley or Fran spring to mind but I'm sure there are others. |

Their eyes will develop naturally & as long as you aren't going to be holding them up directly to the sun or a bright light, they don't need to be shielded from light or kept in the dark at all. |
