A fright with Donald.

Donald is hyperthyroid, in renal failure and has a squamous cell tumour on his nose. He has been doing really well and except for the large scab on his nose looks really good. Every so often the scab comes off and he bleeds a bit until another scab forms, so yesterday when I saw splatters of blood on the floor I automatically thought it was his nose. It wasn't his nose so I panicked a bit thinks someone else had an accident, I then looked closer and there was blood in Donald's eye. We rushed him to the vet and it looks like the ulcer has grown inward and into his tear duct, he pretty much constantly has a nasal infection which causes him to sneeze and this had lead to to blood vessels bursting in the tear duct. This obviously is not a good sign but for just now he is happy and eating like a horse but we have to give him convenia injections every 2 weeks to try and keep the infection at bay and prevent any more damage to his tear duct with sneezing. He is such a cool dude and is so loving it's such a shame.

Darling boy, poor baby! Extra gentle cuddles from me and and the 'kids' here too.

I do believe animals live for the moment more than we do, and just enjoy their lives, and as long as he continues to receive the tlc that he needs and is happy and comfortable then that's something to at least be thankful for. Treasure the darling boy and keep him strong with your love.

Just a thought, is he on renal support food, and is he enjoying the food he's on, if you want a change I ordered some of this for my little girl today, Going to try it and I'll report back on the taste test!

, he is on royal canin renal food and loves it, he is also on 10mgs of vidalta and benazacare. He looks really good in the body, the vet who dealt with him when he was handed in as a stray is amazed at how well he looks because they only expected him to live a couple of months and he's still here a year later.
He reminds me of Samson so has become quite special to me, and loves to lie in the crook of my arm at bedtime, obviously just happy to have a warm place to sleep.
