Thank you Angie... he's a Redtailed Buzzard. They're the american version of our british Common Buzzard but he's captive bred. They are a more aggressive hunter than the CB.

Its a bit different with birds of prey as you retrain to a degree every year after the moult although it gets a shorter and shorter retrain each year. What is considered as being trained is to have the bird quiet on the glove, flying free and returning to either a lure or hunting and killing successfully. Reg was flying free before I owned him but he was incredible nervous and it took me about 3 months till he killed a rabbit. A lot of the training time depends on how the bird was reared.
