Remembering Merlin, my dear old soldier

It is 5 years today since my darling Merlin went to sleep. I still miss you sweetheart and your Daddy and I often speak about you with much fondness.

Absolutely Dinky. I miss our little Chubbiz everyday. All cats are special but some are a little bit more special. Sounds like Merlin was one of those. He was a very handsome chap.

Re: Remembering Merlin, my dear old soldier

Thank you Dinky and FM - Merlin was a very special cat here in Catseyland. He was the reason I joined in 2007 as he had long-standing urinary problems but he managed to reach 23.5 years before he went to sleep. That's why I call him my "old soldier". On the forum, he was known as Uncle Merlin.

A truly special boy indeed and much loved. He shared a large part of your life angieh and you will never forget him, which is exactly as it should be. I firmly believe that one day you will see your beloved "old soldier" again. In the meantime, he lives on in your heart.

Wow, that's one of the oldest cats I've ever heard of. Chubz was only 14 when he died but he went peacefully. I lied on the bed with him holding his paw and he purred and went to sleep. I still see him sometimes, especially if we are gardening, it was his duty to supervise all new planting and give a tour of inspection before giving his purr of approval.

Re: Remembering Merlin, my dear old soldier

Thanks all for your kind comments. PP - it is still quite raw with you, Posh going. Time does dull the pain and of course with Merlin I have so many years of memories as he was only about 10 weeks old when he came to me. I regret that digital photography hadn't been invented then, he was such a very pretty kitten and had such big ears, which he grew into. We have a few photos of him, but they aren't very good quality sadly.
