Kazz - I want to contribute as I know you need a "chat" but have to say I avoid cookery programmes as much as possible. I did however watch Heston and his "events" because he does food like no other and it seems more about creative thinking than cookery. His underlings probably do all that.

No domestic science at school and very little teaching from my Mum = someone who is actually fairly negative about food.

I can't comment obviously on your shows. After the late news at 11 we have a food channel that has some interesting ones: they just finished an Italian series and now are doing one with Eric Ripert, a chef at a 4 star NY restaurant; quite interesting, and he is rather hunky!

Re: Favourite TV cooking/food programme

I did enjoy two fat ladies - great entertainment and fod.

I don't tend to watch many cookery progs on a regular basis - if one is on and catches my taste buds then I'll watch.

I am two types of cook
1 - how quickly can I get it from start to plate
2 - spend ages dreaming up or reading up on new idea and then enjoy trying it out

I'll confess the balance is around 70:30

I enjoy fish, pasta, spicey, chicken and salads. I'll eat anything with chickpeas - bit of an addict there.

What do you like to cook Kazz?

CM, that's pretty much my range of liking too, plus soups and stews; love most one-pot recipes. Do you like cold pasta salads in the Summer for a light dinner?

I quite like watching Nigella - she is one cook that doesn't annoy me and she obviously has a passion for food.

Yes, especially love to add flaked fish/prawns and a lime based dressing.

I think Raymond Blanc is great, and I did make a point of watching his programmes recently. His knowledge, passion and attention to detail were hypnotic. He was also very intuitive in the way he used food and assembled ingredients.

I really dislike the quizzes; Ready, Steady, Cook . . . Masterchef etc. It renders something that should be creative and enjoyable into a race.

Probably need to add (after my negative comment earlier) that I do like pasta dishes and find risotto making calming and very enjoyable.
