Is it True?

My cat sits in one place for weeks or months, then moves to another place and does the same thing.

A friend told me this is a cats instinctive way of keeping one step ahead of it's enemies (eg predators).

Is this true and are there any other theories?

Cats do shift their resting places from time to time. Not sure why. Your friend's theory is as good as any I would say!

Re: Is it True?

I have heard that too, and think it's very probably so. All of mine have done that.

Re: Is it True?

Yes, I agree with everyone too.
Cats are said to change their sleeping places to dissuade any potential predator from finding a pattern or routine in their most vulnerable time, when they're sleeping.
It makes perfect sense.

Re: Is it True?

Harris has changed his sleeping place soo many times, as has Skye although she is more likely to settle on the comfy bed we have put on top of our wardrobe as she likes being up there as harris cant jump to get her
