Dog napping on the rise in UK

Just an alert for all dog owners - I have heard that dognapping is rising in the UK. I'm not sure of the exact areas. Pedigrees are in most danger of getting dognapped.

If someone shows a lot of interest in your dog play down your dog's abilities. If necessary tell the person your dog is old/ill/injured/neutered (even if that's not the truth). NEVER have your dog's name on his collar.

Can someone cross post this on Dogsey please?

Oh how awful. I know of a springer that was stolen from her home, the house was broken into while the owners were out and the dog was the only thing missing. I couldn't imagine the heartache. I will crosspost on Dogsey when I log on tomorrow - if it hasn't been done already.

It seems that not only pedigrees are being stolen. There has been a poster campaign in our area relating to two cross breeds that went missing in an area where we walk Monty. There have been reports that the dogs have been seen since but as far as I know they have not been returned to their owner.
