Cacti are resillient things. I ingore the ones I have for a year and they still keep going! Just water them occasionally and in summer put them outside (don't forget to bring them in when winter approaches). Repotting might help also, but gloves are deffo a neccessity See how it goes with your 3rd one, he's not looking too bad so might come back to life. A warm windowsill in the sun might do the trick. |

It doesn't look too bad. They don't like fussing so I'd agree that the soaking, putting in the sun and benign neglect regime sounds as good as any. And for 'pennies' you did well! |

Well they look very well to me, but I know what you mean, by the dry look on the 3rd one. I live in Spain and grow all those cacti - same advise as above you can ignore them really. It might have just been a little shock for the lack of care at B&Q Re-potting may also help and I would recommend using compost they make specifically for cacti - other than that, stick them in a sunny place and talk to them now and then |

Thanks everyone, he's still doing ok! They were 98p for the 3 of them! He (it!) looks worse in the flesh actually the pic seems to make him look a lot better! He's more wrinkly and a dirty khaki colour at the bottom rather than greener as he is at the top. God only knows why i'm calling it a he! Very handy in todays Daily Mail is a piece on cacti care! Just in time! Am going to get some nice pots and repot them next week if I get round to it. Better look out my gardening gloves! |
