What to do?

After his stroke earlier in the year I made the decision to keep Tiger indoors, it was so unexpected and took the wind right out of my sails. Tiger is really struggling with this now the weather is so good, I am so torn, should I just let him go back to having access to the outdoors? I am thinking if he gets the thumbs up from the vet on the 17th, I may contemplate letting him have the use of the cat flap again. My thought are that if he is taking his medication no problem this should keep him stable and hopefully safe from further issues. I would need to have words with the neighbours about feeding him though

Re: What to do?

Why not let him out harnessed for now get him used to being outside again or create an out door run so he feels safe for a bit

Re: What to do?

I am going to cat proof the garden so Tiger and Lester can have an outdoor space to call their own. I have Tiger in the garden but he just wants to escape over the wall and gets very frustrated. Touch wood he has been a model housecat he has caused no damage apart from getting in my livingroom blinds I feel bad for him

I would be inclined to just allow him in the garden ..... once you've cat-proofed it at least you know he will be safe and not able to go any further. Difficult decision whether to let him out and about as he used to be.

Thanks everyone, I know I have made the right decision for the right reason it's just really hard when I see how much he's hankering for the outdoors. No amount of chasing shoelaces etc seems to help.

Sometimes we have to seem to be cruel to be kind. I'm sure he realises that he is a lucky, much loved cat
