We have been asked to find a new home for Red, who will be 2 years old in April this year. He is neutered and vaccinated. As his name suggests, Red is a red colourpointed Ragdoll. He needs a new home, due to allergy in the family.
Red has colitis, which causes him to have a sensitive bowel and as such he requires a prescription diet (Hills ID or similar). He must not be fed wet food or treats. The colitis does cause bouts of diarrhoea, but the diet does help to control his condition. Other than this he is a fit healthy Ragdoll.
Recently, Red has begun to occasionally urinate by the front door. This is a problem that may very well resolve itself if he is provided with more than one litter tray, especially as he has colitis. It may be that if he has soiled his tray and no one is home to clean it for him, this is when he finds another place to wee. any adopter will need to be able to help Red with this problem and cope accordingly.
He is a very gentle, playful Ragdoll, who loves human companionship and gets along with everyone. He is used to young children. Red has lived as an indoor Ragdoll, with occasional supervised access to a garden, which he does enjoy.
Red needs a safe, loving, indoor home, with a family who are willing to keep him on his strict diet. He will need the provision of two or more large litter trays. He loves people and so it would be ideal if he had some company during the day and is not left for very long hours. He has not lived with dogs since leaving the breeder and so a dog free home would be best for him. As he requires a strict diet, for practical reasons, it would be best if he were an only cat, to avoid him gaining access to non prescription food.

16/1/08 Update: Since initially speaking to Red's owner, she has given him a second litter tray, by the front door. So far this has been successful and Red has used his tray at all times. This tends to support the idea that all he wanted was a second tray. His owner has placed it in the area he has been toileting, for obvous reason, but when he moves ot hi new home, it will be possible to place both litter trays away from the entrance door. It is always best to have trays in a quiet area, away from wlak throughs etc. as most cats like to be private when they use the tray. We shall happily support and advise Red's new family on placement nad numbre of trays
