There are not many yet, looks to be just the first flock, but the swallows have all gone

Noticed almost all the leaves are off the fushia bushes - and lots of the trees have started to turn. Hello winter, are you going to be kind to us this year. Cold and crisp please. Not dull, wet and soggy.

Re: Thants it then!

We've still got swallows, but whether they are your northerners on their southward journey or not, I can't say - didn't ask to see their passports! Fushias are still in flower, oak trees and our walnut are just beginning to turn. What time do you have to put your lights on in the evenings now - this weekend for example when its been bright and sunny, we have had to put some lights on around 7.00 ish.

Re: Thants it then!

Different continent, different latitude, but just for comparison purposes: fuchsias still blooming, leaves no where near coloring, but sunset is at 7:05 pm now. I have neither geese nor swallows to watch. But the acorn crop has been very very sparse this year, so hope that presages a mild Winter ......

Re: Thants it then!

Although colder earlier up here it is usually lighter later.

We don't need lights 'til around 8pm.

I have some friends in Kent and Brighton. Always amazed me the difference in light from south to north.
