Renal diet

Can anyone reccomend the cheapest place online to get the pouches of royal canin renal food please.
It's costing me £1.00 a pouch at the moment at the vets

Did you try VetsUK?

Hills K/D diet is slightly cheaper. It costs £1.80 a tin(dog) whereas Royal Caninis £2.30 a tin. Just a thought.

Thanks Helen, have just had a look at vetsmeduk and it is a bit cheaper, Tom doesn't realy like it but i have to try

Thanks Mags, have checked the site out and it works out at approx 65p per pouch

Not sure about prices but if he's not liking the pouches too much they also make alu-trays which are more like a pate, or Hills k/d is pretty much the same diet.

Most cats that I've known on the pouches tend to prefer the tuna flavour x

thanks Amber. At the moment i'm having to mix some raw mince or cooked chicken in with half a pouch. I know it defeats the object but it's more important to me that he eats. Some days he will eat it on it's own.

no problem, maybe see if your vet can get some alu-trays or k/d for you to try? even if it's just a couple of tins.

Definitely agree though, most important that he is at least eating something! you can also get supplements for renal support too if your vet hasn't already mentioned?
'Renalzin' 'Ipakitine' and 'Rubenal' are the three I can think off of the top of my head. So if the diet doesn't go according to plan you could consider these, obviously speak to your vet first though.

Of course you can always combine the two together if you wished. My dog is currently on liver supplements as well as a hepatic diet which she doesn't eat greatly, so she does occasionally have other stuff to eat too. Just nice to know I have the back up of the supplements there to help her out.

Amber - you are lucky your vetgives you supplements, Katies wont. I too have to mix things into Katies rensl diet to get her to eat

That's a shame I guess every vet has different opinions and different experiences, maybe they've had some issues before with cats similar to Katie's case. Is it that they have refused? or just never mentioned it?

Being a vet nurse I tend to get what I want in the end
