a bit worried about Samson.

Samson, our lovely ginger boy isn't well, he is hyperthryroid and has the snuffles on top of this. I took him to the vet last Tuesday and he got a rimadyl injection and a baryrtil injection to reduce his fever and knock any infection. I had him back on Friday as he was no better, so he got another baytril injection and was put onto noroclav tablets. I took him back today as he is worse, and his temp is back up.
The vet has now put him on baytril tabs, bisolvon as a mucilid and eye cream as he has a sore eye too.
I'm really quite worried as they normally get better quite quickly after antibiotics, and he has lost weight already, I guess because he is so choked up, eating is unpleasant and he can't smell the food to temp him.
If he is no better by Friday, he has to got in for another check and will then be admitted for x-rays, bloods, etc.
I'm quite worried as he is my favourite boy (I admit it, I have favourites) and he is such a character.

Re: a bit worried about Samson.

Thanks, its going to be a very hectic weekend anyway.
Molly, a rabbit, goes in to be speyed on Friday and Pippin gets his x-rays.
We are off to pick up 2 friends for Mia rat on Saturday from Dundee and we have a new family of friends arriving for Pipkin, our single guinea pig on Monday ( the family are moving and need to find a home by the end of the month).
Another of our chickens has a prolapse and is lame, so she is on daily antibiotics and painkillers, and if her lameness doesn't clear up she is in for x-rays/ bloods too, because, apprently, lameness can be linked to internal problems, like kidney disease in birds.

Aww poor thing!
I have never come across this before so can't offer any insight I'm afraid but I'm thinking of you both and hope to hear good news soon.

Re: a bit worried about Samson.

At last I think Samson is improving. He still has runny eyes and is not eating great, but he seems less snuffly. I do hope that he starts to eat a bit better as he has lost a bit of weight and he's not a big boy anyway.
