I know what you mean. I have often been told what good manners my two girls have and it's simply because I believe so strongly in them. I cannot stand ill mannered children or adults. |

Amen! I worked for years in contact with the public, and people can be so rude and arrogant! And they snap at people who aren't responsible for what they're complaining about: the bus is late because of traffic so they b***h at the driver who couldn't help it, for example. And push and shove other people out of the way getting on the subway...I could go on and on, we all can think of constant everyday examples. Whatever happened to please, thank you, excuse me, etc? Elaine, you pushed my button with this thread!! |

I so agree with you Eileen. It's just plain ignorance. I must admit my OH gets very testy with people when we are out and about. He will always hold doors open for people an d help mums struggling with buggies on stairs etc adn so many times people cant even offer the simple curtesy of a thank you!! And the amount of times I have almost fallen because people barge in front of me, he now shouts after them' that's right, knock over someone with a walking stick'. Doesn't half embarass me. |

This really winds me up!!!! I have held the door open for women with prams who don't say thank you! As though having a pram entitles them to having the door opened. I have waited at a bar or shop counter until the assistant has finished their conversation and then not said thankyou. and I have said Thank you' very loud and sarcastically, before now and the assistant said 'What for?' and I said 'No, that's what you are meant to say' and the expression was blank. I have moved my hand when accepting change from a barmaid who was talking to someone else and hadn't even looked at me when I placed my order or said please after stating how much the drink was. and hadn't even made any eye contact whatsoever, She looked at me as the change fell all over the bar and I said 'How rude are you? could you not even pay me the remotest attention when I am buying something from you?' She also had no idea why I had said that... God it's making me angry just thinking of it |

Mobile phones, thats another one that really angers me, people who continue their conversation on the phone when you are trying to ask questions etc to make sure you are giving them the right product, and they look at you like you are the rude one for interupting them. When I worked in the PO, I used to just ask them to step aside and call next please, if they got upset about it then I'd tell them that they were holding up the queue because they were more interested in the phone call than anything else. I also hate over hearing people life stories as they shop and talk, usually loudly, on their mobile phones. |

OMG yes, mobile phones! People having very loud often really personal conversations on the bus/subway! And going thru a door and not holding it for the person behind them so it almost bangs them! And not saying thanks when you hold one for them! |
