k so i'm all rested up and can tell the details now..LOL. shortly after i got there, tabitha's foster mom arrived. i was a little worried about her showing up as she had been hounding me about changing my mind about bringing her back..and i didn't want to have some kind of "sales" like experience at the shelter...she talked a lot and told me a lot of things i already knew but i tried to be polite and show her i was focusing on the new adoption instead in a friendly manner. so the shelter mom proceeds to start showing me pairs of behavior problem pairs just like tabitha..i was a little confused and mentioned that i didn't budget to buy another and she said "oh, well if you take on one of these problem pairs, i'll give you a two for one deal". i held the ones she showed me and showed my disinterest at the prospect. she even let the pairs down to play but i just didn't feel that "click" and wandered back to the rows of cages again to show i was still browsing several times till she got the point (i'm a bit subtle..LOL). so, i start thinking "if i want the right match, i'm gonna need to start asking questions about every single one i'm interested..not just the ones she decides to show me". i poke hear and there and i hear all sorts of reasons why this and that fuzzy can't come home with me. i'm starting to get worried. then i see monkey..bouncing around and trying to get my attention. i ask her and she said he needs to be in a single ferret home because his play can be too rough for sensitive, submissive types....then she hesitates and says "i suppose he might get along with taz though.." (she had met taz on my initial visit and saw how he plays). i jumped at the opportunity of her hesitation and asked to hold him..kisses right away..no biting..wanted to play. i watched him bounce around the playpen for fifteen minutes and was in fits because of the show he was putting on. the story is he had been passed around to five different homes before coming to the shelter..all college kids...and he'd been at the shelter "for quite awhile". i picked him up...did the kiss test as he made happy noises..and got that feeling in my heart and said "i'll take him!". not only does he match PERFECTLY for taz's personality..but he also gets along with the dogs and the cats..what more could a mom ask for? so yes, i'm in love...again....LOL. |
