yes folks scary it was and I dont scare easy!

Kazz, Im not sure if it is similar in some way to the way Hamsters hibernate and I know plenty of those have been buried alive.

Yes thats what made me think. Maybe the fact they are bigger than hamsters and more interactive with their owners that people would think twice about burying a ferret, whereas people may be less likely to take a dead hamster to the vet given their short life span too.

Er... I had two hamsters = one I am pretty sure was dead as he was hard and cold, but the other one......

Have no idea Fran, they apparently can just sleep very deeply, no reason has been found for it, nor do they ever suffer any ill effects from it.Dawn.
