Donna - sorry to hear that you are still off work? Are you feeling as if you are "on the mend" at all? Rotten for you.

Donna! Still off work?
Let's hope the fact that you are feeling bored means you are getting better. Is it def. mumps?

Re: Wednesday's thread.

I picked up Willow and I feel so comforted that she is back home. She is in a wooden casket ontop of the wardrobe. She loved to sleep on the bed with me so now while I'm in bed I can sleep looking at her.

We have decided not to bury her in the garden as we plan to move to the Bristol/Bath area within the next 12-18 months so we shall take her with us and decide when we are there.

Welcome back home Willow. X

Re: Wednesday's thread.

The fact I am still ill is proving it is not mumps after all.... had loads of tests including x ray, blood tests x 2, scans and needles into my salivary glands to get cell samples..... back to the hospital tomorrow for another appointment...

Am welcome to guesses as to what is wrong now as this is rather tedious and am not best with blood tests and needles so finding these tests hard to deal with. Suggestions please!!

Can I guess at glandular fever? Used to be called "the kissing disease" when I was a teenager! Not funny actually - I had a friend who had it and it took her quite a while to recover, but she did get better .......

After much internet searching I was heading in that direction too - they are doing specific tests on my blood looking for viral infections which glandular fever is, rather than concentrating on bacterial infections..

I am hoping as I have had this for a month now that it might start to go away as I cannot count how many painkillers I have taken and how many nights I cannot sleep!! I am also coming to the limit of full sick pay at work so whether I am better or not I will have to go back very soon as I cannot afford not to be paid.

The consultant at the hospital said that if it turns out to be viral he can give me steroids to take the swelling down.....

Re: Wednesday's thread.

Do you mean mononucleosis, Angie? Good guess, sounds a bit like it.
Quiet day here, recovering from the excitement of yesterday and my miserable eye doctor appointment. Sun is trying to come out and it's 18C already. Still no frost; everything is blooming. Did a market run and making up to Leia for abandoning her yesterday afternoon; she is so spoiled at my always being home!
Yola, what a dreadful start to the day; hope it improves!

Happy Guy Fawkes Day to my UK friends, hope the fireworks aren't too upsetting to the animals.

Do join the quiz tonight if you can!
