No - I haven't Yola. I will look out for it. Relatively new to Italian films - Cinema Paradiso is my favourite so far.

That Darcy! Time for those cupboard locks I think.

I shall have to go and see Revolutionary Road. I actually went to the cinema too yesterday and saw a 1948 Italian film Ladri di Biciclette (Bicycle Thieves) "... is a brilliant testament to director Vittorio De Sica’s greatness and to the power of neorealism. All roles were played by non-actors, the dialogue is as spare as it can be in a talking picture, and the coarse black-and-white photography makes viewers feel as if they were watching a documentary, though without sacrificing drama."

Amazingly filmed in Rome after the end of WW2 gave a real feeling of the dreadful poverty and deprivation faced by ordinary people at that time.

Forgot how much I enjoyed going to our little local independent cinema.
Not a problem Angie! I'm sorry to hear about your eye-brow pains Hope they improve as the day goes on.

And hurrah for Uncle Merlin! That really is great news

I've not seen that film, but it sounds really interesting. Speaking of Italian films, did anyone see that new one that was out last summer "My Brother is an Only Child"? I saw it advertised and it looked good but never got a chance to see it.

Re: Cold Monday

Hi all - snowed in, attempting to work from home but is taking ages as I'm having to download stuff, sort it and then set up docs to comment on. But at least I'm warm and dry.

Kinsi was out, in the snow this morning so that was two firsts - first outing and first time in snow.

Liz, At -12 I'd think you're best staying warm and cosy.

PP, my fingers and toes are crossed that this weather does not interfere with your trip to sunny climes.

Yola, sounds like the day from h***. I do hope you feel better and then you will be more like able to cope with the lowlife that broke into your premises. Poor Sebi, my wee sis used to do that at every party she went to. Mum always threatened to hang a board round her neck 'do not overindulge this child'. Supporting hugs coming your way.

meep, That Darcy was obviously just waiting his chance!

angieh, poor you, hate these headachy things. Great news that you've found a new Merlin food. Italian films not something I've seen. German friend is addicted to them and spends ages tracking them down.

dm, can't believe you're due to swop snow for storms. Keep safe.

janey83, your post even 'sounds' shattered. Can't you have a snooze?

Keep safe and warm peeps

Re: Cold Monday

not too cold this morning (colder now) which was lucky as we had the oven on a cleaning cycle (PyroClean) and it chucks out a lot of heat as it heats up to 500 degrees, so the kitchen got warm which pushed the CH room stat up to 23 so the heating went off in the rest of the house

Re: Cold Monday

What dreadful weather: -12, Liz (shudder!) And hope all those snowed in will stay safe and warm. Yola, what can I say: day from Hell indeed! Poor Sebi, poor you; hope they get the b******s who trashed the office ! Meep, you have got a genius cat there, greedy, but brilliant! Angie, lovely news about uncle Merlin, sorry about the headache. PP, fingers crossed the weather gods will cooperate!

This might not be the best time to mention that we made 17 degrees yesterday, just delightful; and already 8 now before lunch. To the Safeway for Leia's favorite minced chicken Fancy Feast and they were out of it again....Madame will not be pleased! Am trying her on the turkey..will see. No news here.

Please stay warm and safe, hope the storm won't be as bad as predicted.

Re: Cold Monday

Hello, everyone.
Yola, my sympathies are with you about your day. I hope things turn around and sort themselves.
And I hope everyone with poorly weather will get some thaw/melt/sunshine sent your way.
It snowed in Seattle this morning but we are an hour and a half north and just got rain. It is noon and the sun is shining and we are at 40 degrees. We may have some light snow showers about two days this week but it looks like it will just be something that melts off easily if that is the case.
Yesterday had a good visit with OH's mother..she actually told me he was lucky to have me I was speechless and totally caught off guard and managed a blush and an "Oh.." . Then we went off to run some shopping errands, I picked up some healthy snacks as I am watching my diet these days. Also dyed my hair last night..got rid of the purple and just went all black since it's the closest to my natural color so I won't have to bother with the roots growing out anymore..taking a break from all the funky colors
Didn't get around to some cleaning including the ferret cage yesterday so will be doing that today..Just a day of chores and laundry ahead of me. Should be pretty laid back.
Have a great rest of your day/evening!
Tink

Re: Cold Monday

Yola - sending you big hugs. People who do that sort of thing gets my back up. I have been burgled twice in the past. Luckily Milo stopped them getting into the house but the feeling you get us just the pits.

Ange - great news on Uncle Merlin's new taste in cuisine! Let's hope it continues.

Meep - Glad you enjoyed the film. I'm looking forward to seeing that one too.

Liz - any sign of a thaw?

Quiet day here. Still not felt 100%. Had a long walk with Bess and took her dog training. Need to get a tennis ball for her tomorrow and get the recall better and more consistant. She does love a good chase!!!

Have avoided most household chores today and let andrew get on with it. I just couldn't give a toss about it today.

Poppy had an eye check up as the health visitor thought she may have a squint. It turns out she is probs long sighted and will need glasses. Poor lovie is only 2.5. We have to go back in 6 weeks for a review.

I'm in bed already with a very large, no, its a huge glass of Baileys and I have been promised a lie in tomorrow morning. My first in over 6 months.
