Hardly slept last night as Sebi, who went to his first ever birthday party yesterday afternoon, gorged on all kinds of rubbish food and cake and spent the night heaving. Just the right time for my washing machine to break down then. Oh, and I also feel rubbish with headache, sore throat and a cough. Oh and as if that weren't enough our office was broken into during the early hours of Sunday morning. All IT equipment is still in place (if that had gone we would have been completely stuffed), but everything's been rummaged and is an unholy mess. They must have been violent so-and-sos though because they smashed the alarm off the front of the building and ripped one of the hefty front windows off their hinges - window locks n all ![]() I just want to go back to bed ![]() |

-12! Goodness me, stay warm Liz! It snowed all of last night, so woke up to a peaceful, and eerily quiet, white-scape out my window. Was beautiful walking to work! And strangely it's not as cold as it has been, the snow seems to create some sort of blanket so it's not bitter. Enjoying the snow much more than the rain! Went to go and see Revolutionary Road last night - absolutely brilliant. A very depressing, but not shockingly or tear-jerkingly so, movie. Basically about a young couple in 1950s America who move to the suburbs and settled into the "perfect life" of house, kids, housewife and working husband and are completely unsatisfied with it; as a result, their marriage falls apart. I'd highly recommend it as a thought-provoking movie, it's stayed with me and I couldn't stop thinking about it all of last night; it's very sad but not a tear-jerker as rather than being emotive it's very cold and aggresive. In other news Darcy managed to open the kitchen door, which we closed to keep him out of the cupboard he can now open, and opened the cupboard and ate a whole bag of Nature's Menu treats last night ![]() ![]() Have a good day everyone, stay warm! |

Oh Yola - what a collection of traumatic happenings you're facing. I am sorry - I do hope that at least Sebi feels better soon, that you find something to ease your cold and that your washing machine can be fixed relatively quickly. As for the break-in, I suppose all that can be said is thank the powers that they didn't take/smash your IT stuff - that's all very strange. Sorry you are snowed in Liz, but at least you are all safe and hopefully things will begin to thaw soon - hopefully. Your post made me wonder how our Elaine is fairing - has anyone heard whether she has been able to get out since last week? PP - I have my fingers and toes crossed that you at least will be able to escape all this on Friday - just remember to bring us back some jars of sunshine or at least some good pictures of sunny San Diego! Very wet and grey here today - I have one of those "eyebrow aches" on the right side of my head caused by catarrh. It is so gloomy, I don't think it's going to get light today. Oh, some good news for Merlin's favourite aunties - I bought him some Sainsbury's Perfectly Meaty trays yesterday as a trial and he loves them - has already eaten three! It's the most he's eaten for quite a while. Makes me feel much more relaxed when he's eating and enjoying his food and nothing is going in the bin. Thought you'd all like to share in this good news. |

Sorry meep - didn't mean to ignore you, but my post took me longer to do than usual! That Darcy! Time for those cupboard locks I think. I shall have to go and see Revolutionary Road. I actually went to the cinema too yesterday and saw a 1948 Italian film Ladri di Biciclette (Bicycle Thieves) "... is a brilliant testament to director Vittorio De Sica’s greatness and to the power of neorealism. All roles were played by non-actors, the dialogue is as spare as it can be in a talking picture, and the coarse black-and-white photography makes viewers feel as if they were watching a documentary, though without sacrificing drama." Amazingly filmed in Rome after the end of WW2 gave a real feeling of the dreadful poverty and deprivation faced by ordinary people at that time. Forgot how much I enjoyed going to our little local independent cinema. |
