Re: Bookworms unite

Hi Charliebubs - not read that one - just looked it up on Amazon, it is by Alice Sebold and it does sound very worth reading.

I highly recommend it Angie. Be warned though - it's a tear jerker

Re: Bookworms unite

Oh, I'll blub at most things! Really blubbed at the end of The Time Traveler's Wife (I use one "l" because that's how it's spelt on the cover of the book - v. strange that). Nothing wrong with a good blub!

We seem to like the same stuff, Alex

Not that I'm into vampire love stories but then again, never say never until tried

What else do you two recommend then, Alex and Angie??

Re: Bookworms unite

I'd recommend any of the books from my list. If you like the premise that "history could be altered because magic is real" try "Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell". It is a long book - 1006 pages, but I have to say I didn't get bored once. And Alex, if you like vampire stories, "The Historian" I found very creepy and again, quite a long book - 704 pages and again, have to say it kept me glued! (Not a vampire love story - but good old fashioned bad vampire!"

Anyone who hasn't read 'Marley and Me' by John Grogan really needs to, it's the most heart warming tale, even if you don't like dogs i'll bet you won't get through it without shedding a tear!
